Whether through donations, volunteer support or cohosted fundraising events, businesses can make powerful allies for service. Explore the local community for businesses that want to get involved. That’s what the Colebrook Elementary Builders Club in Colebrook, New Hampshire, U.S., did.
In November 2023, club members held a monthlong snack drive in the community. With the support of Little Things Flower Shop, which promoted the drive on social media, they offered a raffle to boost donations. Thanks to the overwhelming response, over 2,500 snack servings were collected, including popular items such as SKINNYPOP popcorn, applesauce and Goldfish crackers.
“The gift shop owner was eager to help,” says Amy Caron, the Builders Club advisor and school counselor at Colebrook Elementary. “The response blew the kids away. Seeing the volume of donations taught them the power of community support and service.”
The drive not only addressed immediate needs but also stocked classrooms with snacks for the remainder of the school year. And with their success, the Colebrook Builders Club is ready to do it again next year!
